Merlot
Wine of Chile
Suitable for Vegans
Did you know that Ampelography is the science that enables us to identify the different grapevine varieties by the shape of their leaves?
Merlot's leaves are medium-sized with slightly overlapping borders. This variety looks like Carmenere but you can tell it apart by its new shoots, which are white-coloured. It has medium-sized, loose, conical-shaped clusters and produces medium-bodied, fruity wines with aromas of cassis, cherries, jam and blackcurrants.
Wine lovers, discover our collection of artwork based on the fascinating world of the Ampelography of each wine!

History: MontGras is the most awarded young winery in Chile. Their boldly attractive wines are sourced from the best valleys across the country. The De Vine Reserva range is inspired by the world of ampelography, the study of vines. Each label displays the leaf of the grape variety inside the bottle.
Regional information: The grapes are grown in Chile's Central Valley where the warm Mediterranean climate suits the Merlot variety perfectly. The long growing season and large temperature changes between day and night help the grapes ripen evenly.
Vinification: The Merlot grapes are picked and destemmed at the winery. The juice is fermented in stainless steel using selected yeasts to enhance the ripe fruit characters in the wine. 40% of the final blend is oak aged for 5 months.
